There's nothing a bit of icing can't fix...

Penny, that is wonderful! Where did you inherit these skills? Definitely not from your mother.
It reminds me of the treasure Island birthday cake of many years ago, I think you would have been seven then.
I trust that with all that icing covering it's basic imperfections that you sent all the children home with appropriate sugar highs.
No doubt a good time was had by all!

Hi Lily,

Happy Birthday. I can't believe our Mum's have made it through until we are five. However I did tell my Mum that she is 'crazy in the coconut' this morning. I don't think she will make it to my sixth birthday.

Glad you had a lovely day.

Love Gussy xxxx

The cake looks great - gotta love icing - all my cakes would look like crap if it weren't for the wonders of icing!!

I bet all the mums who just put 100s & 1000s straight on the cake with no icing were a little envious!

Hope the party went well.

My grandmother used to make me awesome creative cakes like that when I was a kid, I always appreciated them so much.

Fantastic cake working skills! Very nice indeed! Looks like it will be a fab party.

Mum I remember that cake well - well, I remember the photo! I think you did well, given you didnt have the modenr mother's bible of cake decorating - the WW cake book :)

Thanks Jennie and Guera :)

hey Gussy - good to "see" you buddy. I bet you are giving your mum a run for her money. How did you guys grow so fast? And how did we make it through 5 years when at one stage we thought we'd never survive the first 5 months! Say hi to Mum and Dad :)

Kate - you know I spilled the secret and showed the mums the WWCB, but they still seemed to appreciate the effort :)

Misschris - thanks, she sure did :)

Le Tigre - the party was a riot, seriously :)

Oh my GOSH, Penny, that is the most gorgeous, adorable, fabulous cake! I don't know if I'll EVER be able to put together such an amazing masterpiece for my own children -- I may need some lessons! You'll have to pass on some tips... Little Lily must have been SO thrilled!

Happy Belated 5th Birthday to Lily, by the way! Sounds like you all had a wonderful time.
