The Power of Advertising

A friend asked me today what was my favourite city in the world. I started thinking "well, I've been to....(and then it happened!)...cities, that never close down...from New York (never been there!) to Rome (nope!) and old London Town...but no matter how far or how wide I roam...

And before long I found myself over at you tube watching this, tears in my eyes like everytime I see it (bloody Qantas!)

Ok, minor bout of homesickness over. On with life!

That made me get teary-eyed too!

I can't wait to visit Australia someday...

My parents made me listen to the Seekers before I left. But seeing Kerry O'Brien again made me feel more sad in fact...I miss understanding the context of things!

How funny! I was thinking about what "home" means the other day and I have had that song stuck in my head ever since! I have just danced round the family room with the 2 girls singing along with the video. I think I'll go and have some vegemite toast and read my Women's Weekly now...

Jennie - its such an effective ad. I dont think they'll ever get rid of it.

D Metz - you felt sad after seeing Kerry O'Brien - interesting! No, I'm kidding, I understand what you mean about missing the context :)

Guera - Cute to picture you and the girls dancing around! You get the Women's Weekly - you lucky duck! I think I'll have to take out a subscription :)

I wish the mail service here was good enough to get parcels and magazines from home - I'm sure they would get lost or take months to arrive by post. I only get WW when we have visitors from home - my Mum usually sends it over with husband's boss who visits regularly. Plus, he brings the regular vegemite order and sometimes Milo and Violet Crumble too!

Very nice, but you must see New York someday...Amazing. Of course, I'm from Washington so I'd recommend DC as well. But we don't have ads like that.

Wife loved browsing your blog -- a lot of similar issues! Learning French, kids in school, co-sleeping....
